Curriculum

Our school follows a rigorous curriculum set by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) and West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) to provide a comprehensive education to students from class 1 to 12, with Bengali as the medium of instruction.

Bengali is taught as the first language, while English is the second language.The compulsory subjects include Bengali and English, while students have the option to choose from various elective subjects, including Science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, and Computer Science), Arts (History, Geography, Philosophy, Sanskrit, and Political Science), and Commerce (Accounts, Commerce, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Studies, and Environmental Science).

Primary Education

Our primary school follows the curriculum set by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education for students in classes I to IV. The curriculum includes various academic subjects, such as Bangla, English, Mathematics, Environmental Studies, History, Geography, Social Studies, and General Knowledge.

In addition, Culture and Heritage Studies are also taught to promote cultural awareness and appreciation among students. Our curriculum emphasizes the development of foundational skills and knowledge, while encouraging creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. We strive to create a positive and engaging learning environment that supports the holistic growth and development of each student, preparing them for success in their future academic pursuits.

Secondary Education

Our school curriculum for classes V to X is set by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE). We offer a wide range of academic subjects including Bangla, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Mathematics, History, Geography, Physical Science, Biology, Computers, Work Education, and Physical Education.

Our curriculum focuses on the holistic development of our students and is designed to provide a strong foundation in core subjects while fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. We strive to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment that enables our students to explore their interests and develop a lifelong passion for learning. Our curriculum aims to prepare students for their future academic and career pursuits while nurturing their social and emotional growth.

Higher Secondary Education

Balurghat L. M. A. U. Vidyalaya offers a comprehensive curriculum for students in classes XI to XII, as per the guidelines set by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE).The curriculum includes compulsory subjects such as Bengali as the first language and English as the second language.

Students also have the option to choose from a variety of elective subjects including Science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, and Computer Science), Arts (History, Geography, Philosophy, Sanskrit, and Political Science), and Commerce (Accounts, Commerce, Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Studies, and Environmental Science). Our curriculum is designed to provide a well-rounded education that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and personal growth, while preparing students for their future academic and career pursuits.

Academic Year

Balurghat L. M. A. U. Vidyalaya’s academic year is divided into three terms, each of varying durations, to provide a well-rounded and comprehensive education to our students.

The first term runs from April/May to September/October, inclusive of short breaks, while the second term runs from September/October to December, inclusive of Puja and Christmas recesses. The final term runs from January to March, culminating in the annual examinations. While the number of terms remains constant, the duration of each term may vary from year to year to accommodate any changes in academic or administrative schedules. Our academic year is designed to ensure that students receive a balanced education with ample opportunities for academic and personal growth.
